Body wave dispersion characteristics of regional deep earthquake at Southern Ryukyus subduction zone

چکیده
The convergent plate boundaries known as the subduction zone is location where cold, hydrate, and old oceanic subduct under hot, dry, young continental plate. top of plate, i.e. crust usually less than 6 km thick carries hydrate material to hot mantle, which commonly an indication occurrence deep earthquake. From recent studies, regional earthquake body wave signal that occurred at was found dispersed or shown a waveguide. Thus, by examining these signals, we could further estimate characteristics zone. A narrow bandpass maximum Hilbert transform envelope are being used delay time dominant frequency energy Southern Ryukyus It has larger with 2 Hz, thus, travel within it acts low-velocity layer compared surrounding inversely high-quality (preserve high-frequency energy).

Earthquake hazards on the cascadia subduction zone.
Large subduction earthquakes on the Cascadia subduction zone pose a potential seismic hazard. Very young oceanic lithosphere (10 million years old) is being subducted beneath North America at a rate of approximately 4 centimeters per year. The Cascadia subduction zone shares many characteristics with subduction zones in southern Chile, southwestern Japan, and Colombia, where comparably young oc...
متن کاملRotation and plate locking at the southern Cascadia subduction zone
Global Positioning System vectors and surface tilt rates are inverted simultaneously for the rotation of western Oregon and plate locking on the southern Cascadia subduction thrust fault. Plate locking appears to be largely offshore, consistent with earlier studies, and is sufficient to allow occasional great earthquakes inferred from geology. Clockwise rotation of most of Oregon about a nearby...
متن کاملDeep structure of Japan subduction zone as derived from local, regional, and teleseismic events
We have determined a detailed three-dimensional P wave velocity structure of the Japan subduction zone to 500-km depth by inverting local, regional, and teleseismic data simultaneously. We used 45,318 P wave arrivals from 1241 shallow and deep earthquakes which occurred in and around the Japan Islands. The arrival times are recorded by the Japan University Seismic Network which covers the entir...
متن کاملUpper lithospheric structure of the subduction zone offshore of southern Arauco peninsula, Chile, at 38 S
[1] A joint interpretation of swath bathymetric, seismic refraction, wide-angle reflection, and multichannel seismic data was used to derive a detailed tomographic image of the Nazca–South America subduction zone system offshore southern Arauco peninsula, Chile at 38 S. Here, the trench basin is filled with up to 2.2 km of sediments, and the Mocha Fracture Zone (FZ) is obliquely subducting unde...
متن کاملDeep-Focus Repeating Earthquakes in the Tonga–Fiji Subduction Zone
Abstract Deep-focus earthquakes in the Tonga–Fiji subduction zone make up greater than 66% of the globally recorded deep seismicity. The high number of deep-focus seismicity in this active subduction zone allows us to search for deep-focus similar earthquake pairs and repeating earthquakes. We compile a waveform dataset for deep earthquakes with magnitude above 4.7 occurring in the Tonga–Fiji–K...
